One of the best things about Banbury is the great line up of annual events the town puts on. And this weekend is the annual Banbury & District show, the first big outdoor event of the year.
It all happens across the two large fields in Spiceball Park on Sunday, June 11 from 10:30-4:30. There is free admission & entertainments including Banbury Cross Flyball demos, a BMX/motorcross stunt show, displays from Atkinson Action Horses, performances from local dance schools, ferret races, a purely for fun dog show featuring the dogs of Banbury (many of whom will have been featured on our favourite twitter hashtag #dogsofbanbury) and all the usual things such as fairground rides, an inflatable zone, trading stalls and plenty of food and drink options.
And there is one other thing I think is particularly worth mentioning – not only is admission to the fair itself free but there are, as there has been in the past, a fantastic selection of ‘free to play’ activities including:
- Hangar 51 – laser games
- Dash & Grab
- Derby Hoppers
- Last One Standing
- Crazy Golf Challenge
- Farm animal petting area
- Falconry exhibit
- Face painting
This year, for the first time, there is even ‘a show within a show’ thanks to the addition of Banbury ArtFest. This is an opportunity not only to browse and buy some unique pieces but to get to watch artists at work. You can see a line up of exhibiting artists on the Art Fest facebook page. I’m really looking forward to seeing these demonstrations (which will be happening, as I understand it) throughout the day).
So come check it all out this Sunday, June 11 in Spiceball Park from 10:30-4:30. Enjoy the demonstrations, rides, performers, activities, food and drink to suit all tastes.
