Annual Events

Here is a run down of the events that adorn Banbury’s annual events calendar – thanks to the efforts of Banbury Town Council and other local organisations.

A Taste of Spring

  • when and where: usually mid to late April in Babury Town Centre.
  • what: Join us for a mini food festival, celebrating all that’s good about food and drink.

Banbury & District Show

  • when and where: usually June in Spiceball Park
  • what: Set over two fields with fun and entertainment for all the family. Free entry to this showcase of everything you need for a great day out.

Armed Forces Day

  • when and where: June and usually in Banbury Town Centre (or Spiceball Park depending on the size of the displays)
  • what: a celebration of the Army Reserves, Banbury and District Sea Cadets, Banbury Army Cadet forces and Air Training Corps Cadets.

Town Mayors Sunday

  • when and where: usually July in People’s Park
  • what: stalls, arena entertainment and family fun.

Banbury Music Mix

  • when and where: usually end of July in Banbury Market Place
  • what: local bands feature in this celebration of music at its very best with live performances, food and drink.

Banbury Food Fair

  • when and where: usually mid-to-late August in Marketplace and the High Street
  • what: Over 100 traders are on hand (last year was almost 150) to offer visitors the chance to view, sample and purchase some of the tastiest food and drink in the country. There are cookery demonstrations, live radio broadcasts, entertainment and lots more. Held in conjunction with the Banbury Flower & Produce Show which showcases the efforts and amazing skills of local growers, bakers and crafters.

No idea which child made this but I salute them and their parents. Brilliantly demented in all the right ways.

Battle of Britain Parade & Service

  • when and where: usually the middle Sunday of September
  • what: A parade in High Street followed by a service in St. Mary’s Church at 11.00am commemorating the Battle of Britain 1940

Banbury Canal Day

  • when and where: usually mid-October all along the canal through Banbury Town Centre
  • what: There are canal rides, performers, food stalls, crafters, tradders and demonstrations of all kinds.

Remembrance Day Parade and Service

  • when and where: always Remembrance Sunday happening from Town Hall to People’s Park
  • what: parade, service and commemoration of those who have served their country in wars past and present.

Christmas Lights Switch On & Festive Market

  • when and where: Late November in and around the Marketplace and Town Hall
  • what: Launching the festive season in Banbury, with stalls, music, food and entertainment, and of course Santa!
